Spring has sprung (at last)

Yesterday was a much warmer day here on the south east coast so myself and hubster decided to take the bus to the local park and have a leisurely stroll, here are some images, next time we will take a picnic!

A walk on the wild side

Today myself and hubster decided to take a stroll along Eastbourne seafront, and it was a surprisingly sunny (if windy) day.  The flower beds are about to bloom into carpets of colour, the bandstand is ready for it's next performance and the pier was looking majestic.

After a long walk we headed over to Harry Ramsdens for some welcome fish and chips :)
All in all a lovely way to spend a Thursday πŸ’•

Eastern European Rag Doll - just for Valentines Day

I have been fascinated by these lovely little rag dolls lately.  They crop up all over Pinterest so I thought I would try to make one.  Some people keep them as a lucky talisman.  No sewing involved, just folding and tying together of materials to make the doll and clothes.  I think she look more Japanese.  I had to put one stitch in the middle of the heart (as I didn't have my glue gun handy!).

Happy Valentines Day everyone!

Stick with what you know (is sometimes best)!

Just before 2017 I made a name change to my blog, thinking 'new year, new start' and all that, I realised very quickly that it was the wrong decision, apart from putting a new link to my new 'name' (that no one actually clicked on!) I lost around 35 followers almost overnight :(  So this morning I went back to the original name of Rosa Lily, and somehow it feels right again.

Anyone else done something like that and regretted it?  Like to hear what you think.

Scrappy little tags

Using up scraps of fabric?  Try making some tags, they will always be used.
The first one is linen base with a strip of lace, printed bird on a wire ribbon and a black cotton 'nest' with pink pearl embellishments πŸ’™

This one is a scrap of old denim, a cut from some printed fabric, with lace button and pearl embellishment πŸ’™

The last one is denim again, printed ribbon, paper 'tape measure' strips with pearls and button embellishment πŸ’™

Mixed media card with fabric and paper

Made a postcard sized mixed media card today, using paper and material.  Although I love to create ATC's this size is easier to handle with a sewing machine!

Simple Distressed Tag (How to)

I used some thin decorated cardboard and dabbed lightly over with gesso on a sponge.  Then cut out an oval tag shape.  Used butterfly stamp on the front then lightly sponged some stamp ink near the edges to make it look old and finally outlined the rim with black marker pen and punched a hole for the string.

A fabric keep from jean pockets!

πŸ’™

When you make a lot of fabric bits and pieces where do you keep them?  Well I had two jean pockets going spare so I just stitched the ends together, embellished the front simply and made the pockets secure with a string tie and button fastening.  If you just stitch the inner parts of the pockets you will still have the openings to store bits in :)

Voila!  πŸ’™πŸ’™πŸ’™

Little fabric hanging panels!

πŸ’•

I love to make these little fabric panels, they are easy as you can use up all your scrap material and they are always deliberately imperfect πŸ’™
